Below is a summary featuring the most interesting observations from this month, based on reports from the ISRABIRDNET mailing list and other sources.
Red-throated Diver (Gavia stellata): one remained at Acre port till 12/2(R.Segali et al.)

Great Shearwater (Puffinus gravis): 1 off Jaffa port, 3/2. 5th Israeli record. (B.Granit, E.Shochat).

Sooty Shearwater (Puffinus grisues): 10, off Jaffa port, 3/2, highest record for the Mediterranean coast in Israel. (B.Granit, E.Shochat, R.Livne, O.Horin). 5 there on the 4/2.

Leach's Storm Petrel (Oceanodroma leucoroha): good numbers in Israeli standards, with 1 off Jaffa port, 3/2. (B.Granit, E.Shochat, R.Livne, O.Horin). 15 off Jaffa on 4/2.(Seen by many). 4-5 in the same location, 5/2(O.Horin, A.Cohen, Y.Dax, T. Landsberger).

Brown Booby (Sula leucogaster): 1 off Eilat's North Beach, present on and off throughout the month. (Y.Lehnardt et al.).

Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber): a flock of approx. 90 birds, Maoz Hayim fish ponds, 28/2.(T.Matmon). An exceptional number outside Eilat area.

Smew (Mergellus albellus): 1 female, Heital reservoir, southern Golan highs, 18/2.

Black-winged Kite (Elanus caeruleus): 1 seen for a short time near Qidron, Gedera area, 3/2.(A.Froined).1 of the African form caeruleus found exhausted at Wadi Paran, N Arava, on 22/2, died next day.

Crested Honey Buzzard (Pernis ptylorhinchus): 1 remained at Eilot’s northern date plantation all month.(Y.Lehnardt et al.).

Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis): 1, 1st winter, Tzora reservoir, 3/2.(E.Banker, S.Aharon).

Demoiselle Crane (Anthropoides virgo): 1 remained at Hula all month.(L.Ziv et al.)

Oystercatcher (Haemantopus ostralegus): 1, Ashdod sea shore, 26/2.( A. Ben-dov).

Sociable Lapwing (Vanellus gregarius): 4 birds among some Northern Lapwings, Mt. Avital area, Golan highs. 6/2. (A.Willer). An extreme rare winter visitor in this area. 8 birds, Urim fields, north western Negev, 13/2.(J. Riihimaki).

Oriental Turtle Dove (sterptopelia orientalis): 1 bird, of the meena subspecies, Ashdod, 27/2.(A.Ben-dov). See a report on the forum and rarity alert section.

Kurdish Wheatear (Oenanthe xanthoprymna): 1 female at Heftziba quarry, Harod Valley, all month. (T. Kahan and others).

Wallcreeper (Tichodroma muraria): 1, Wadi amud, Eastern Galilee, 14/2(O.Hatzofe).1, Mt. Arbel, 19/2.( J. Riihimaki).

Common Rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus): a high count of 11 individuals, Tzora reservoir, 1/2. All birds in female/1st winter plumage. (A.Rinot, Y.kiat, Y.Charka). Followed by many other records of 2-6 birds at the same site throughout the first half of the month.

Little Bunting (Embriza pusilla): 1 at Migdal Oz, Jizra'el Valley, 8-11/2.(R.Yakar et al.).

Pine Bunting (Embiza leucocephalos): 1 male among yellowhammers, Tel Hazeka, northern Golan highs, 5/2.(A.Rinot, A.Balaban).1 male, Ma’ale Ha’hamisha, Judean hills, 13/2.(S.Yona). Very rear in this area.
