Black-throated Diver (Gavia arctica), sea of Galilee, 14/Dec/06

On December 14th, a 1st winter Black-throated Diver was observed north of Tiberius shore, sea of Galilee (Lior Kislev et al.).

This species is an occasional passage migrant and winter visitor in Israel, predominantly at the Med. sea coast and the Gulf of Eilat. Out of the 19 previous national records, only 1-2 are from the sea of Galilee.
