eilat news (Main Area)

hi all,

yesterday afternoon(29/10) i watched a Green Warbler phyloscopus nitidusat upper wadi shani-eilat mountains. a rather tamed bird which showed well for an hour, when we left the site. some very poor record shots were taken and hopefully will be uploaded soon.the bird wasn't found today by itai shani. as far as i know this record is the 5th for israel if accepted.

other than that-4 Temmink's Horned Larks, 2 Bar tails and a Desert Wheatear at meyshar seifim earlier that afternoon.

today, a winter plumaged Grey Phalarope was seen at k20 salt ponds. some photos were taken by Beni Shalmon.
another Desert wheatear and a Hooded wheatear were seen around the dom palms.

present at all the sightings- Boaz langford and Ron ofer.

many birds are around, and the weather is getting much more humain...see you all down south:yes:

Grey Phalarope is still present at K20 as for yesterday.
a German birder reports of a Sociable Plover in a field north of Lotan this morning.

other than these,
a male Arabian Warbler was seen yesterday in the Acacia scrub between Ein-Evrona and the Dum Palms, as well as a family of Lichtensteine's (M+F+ 2X imm').
a group of 300 Pelicans crossing the Gulf of Aqaba at 14:30 from East to West was a rare sight and at N. beach at least 2 Heuglin's Gulls among the many Baltic's and first Black-headed's around.

Nice !

Same dates as a bird from 2008: Gray Phalarope

Both birds are 1st winters though, so it's not a returning bird.

Any news on the Green Warbler images?

Images at last

Large crops of Rea's record shots, showing the important ID features (yellow wingbar, bold yellow supercillium, very yellow and green plumage). Get yourself a proper camera!
